Greg Potter is leaving more than just footprints behind him as he traverses the musical landscape of New York City’s singer-songwriter scene. Potter’s piano driven songs are in the vein of artists like Elton John, Tori Amos and David Bowie, but with a delicate indie touch that leaves a faint whistle on your lips and a tap in your toes.
It’s a very exciting time for Potter, as he is ready to emerge from his studio and back onto the stage revealing a new direction in his music with a pair of brand new singles, “Sleepwalking” and “Wild.” Making a pivotal move, Potter is stepping away from his piano and over to the guitar for these new melodic tracks. The tracks are perfect for fans of The Smashing Pumpkins and Slowdive. He also has recently composed music for The Ford Motor Company sponsored Slate podcast, “Life on the Fast Track” as well as various online advertisements for Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa.
Night Hymns, Potter’s debut solo EP released in 2014, includes standout songs, “Evelyn” and “Gypsy by Candlelight.” Both tracks showcase Potter’s natural ability to compose catchy alternative pop songs, but with deep piano arrangements led by his tender, mellifluous vocals. Over the years, Potter developed his fanbase and performed regularly at highly sought after NYC venues: Joe’s Pub, Pianos, Studio at Webster Hall and Rockwood Music Hall.
Greg Potter is one half of the alternative-glam duo, Enid Ellen (FemmeKraft Records) along with performance artist and lead singer, David Mramor. Next Magazine describes the band’s sound as, “Marilyn Manson singing Tori Amos songs.” Enid Ellen has a devout and captivated cult following within the LGBTQ music and performance art community.
